Tanay Aggarwal

I'm a PhD Student in Artificial Intelligence at The Open University based in the United Kingdom currently working on applying Large Language Models to scholarly knowledge organization systems. I work with Professor Enrico Motta, Dr. Francesco Osborne, and Dr. Angelo Salatino at the Knowledge Media Institute (KMi). My research focuses on developing automated approaches for generating and maintaining ontologies of research topics using artificial intelligence.

Prior to my PhD, I developed R-Classify, a web tool that helps identify relevant research concepts from controlled vocabularies. My current work builds on this foundation by exploring more sophisticated AI approaches to scholarly knowledge organization. I aim to advance the state-of-the-art in automated ontology generation and maintenance to better serve the scientific community's information needs.
